One of the major welfare activities, being the educational needs of its personnel, the Army Welfare Education Society was founded in 1983. Now accords 130 Army schools have been established and running successfully in the country. when Area HQ ATNK & K opened its regimental school “Golden Palm Army School” (GPAS) for classes I to VII then the Army Public School, Chennai started on an auspicious. The army school’s aim is to impart quality education to the wards of Army personnel as well as civilians (according to the vacancy of seats available).
Army Public School Chennai – Admissions to 2020 – 2021 Academic Year
The Army Public school lies in a sprawling campus of around thirteen acres. In this school 45 classrooms apart from activity rooms, Library, Audio Visual Room, fully equipped Laboratories, and Indoor games rooms. The school is at present a full-fledged senior secondary school with classes I to XII and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education.

An Assessment test on 16 March 2019 as per CBSE syllabus will be conducted for the following subjects
Std II to Std V – English, Hindi, Maths (9.00 am – 10.30 am)
Std VI to Std VIII – English, Hindi, Maths & Science (09.00 – 11.00 am)
Std IX – English, Sanskrit, Hindi / Maths and Science (09.00 – 11.00 am)
The cost of application forms will be:
1. Serving/Retired Officers – Rs. 100/-
2. Serving/Retired JCO – Rs. 70/-
3. Serving/Retired OR – Rs. 50/-

(v) Service / Discharge / Pension certificate and Identity issued by the Sainik welfare officer for Ex-servicemen.
Admission for the XI for the Academic Year 2019 – 20

General Rules
1. Attendance on the first and last day of every term is mandatory.
2. Students coming late to School will be sent back home with the parent.
3. Attendance is compulsory on (i) School Annual Day (ii) Sports Day (iii) Independence Day (iv) Republic Day (v) Open Day
4. No student should be absent without prior permission.
5. In case of absence a written application addressed to the Principal should be submitted and in case of illness, a medical certificate should be produced.
6. No student will remain absent for tests/Examinations other than on medical grounds.
7. A student will not be allowed to take the annual examination if he/she has not put in a minimum of 75% attendance.
8. Permission to return home after appearing for a test will not be granted.
9. Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, misconduct, disobedience, and malpractice will not be entertained.
10. The manner of movement of a student should be quiet and orderly, at all times, inside the school campus.
